01Abstract
Before infrastructure can be deployed in space, it must be validated on Earth. The Summit Tower establishes highly accessible terrestrial microgravity simulation infrastructure to radically accelerate aerospace hardware development. By providing rapid-iteration drop testing, this facility allows researchers to verify fluid dynamics, mechanical deployments, and life-support subsystems on Earth, securing the deployment pipeline for future orbital structures.
02The problem
The greatest risk in deploying in-space infrastructure is hardware failure due to untested microgravity dynamics. Currently, access to zero-g environments for validation is severely restricted by high costs and long waitlists for flight time. This gatekeeps innovation. Developers lack the accessible terrestrial infrastructure needed to rigorously test, break, and refine their mechanical and fluid systems before incurring the massive financial risk of an actual spaceflight launch.
03What we need
We already built the drop tower capsule and a vacuum pump system to reach that needed vacuum, now we require funding to build our designed tower and integrate aerospace-grade high-speed camera and data acquisition systems. Additionally, we seek partnerships with commercial aerospace companies willing to validate their sub-scale payloads in our facility, proving its efficacy as a primary terrestrial R&D testing node.
